Gökçek threatens rate hike for Ankara census dodgers...
Gökçek reasoned that because municipalities receive state funding from Iller Bankası based on the population of districts recorded during the census, those who are not counted among a citys population should not be afforded the same rights as residents of that city.
Gökçek said that at a meeting with the citys local municipality mayors the decision was taken to charge higher rates for those people who are not counted at their place of residence.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sadettin Tantan responded to this by saying that threats of rate hikes are outside of the law.
NATURAL GAS SUBSCRIPTIONS NOT ENOUGH
Gökçek also said that the availability of 4,500 new natural gas subscriptions for Ankara residents is insufficient, given that there is a demand of 20,000.
