Number of Revolving Funds to be reduced in the later stages of the economic programme...
The letter goes on to say, that after this sizeable scaling down, a comprehensive financial and economic audit of their operations will be carried out by end-May 2002. Based on the findings of the report, further steps will be identified by the end of June 2002. Of the 2650 revolving funds, 608 are medical services related and come under the administration of state hospitals. Moreover, there are 1065 revolving funds belonging to vocational schools throughout Turkey which are subordinate to the Ministry of Education.
The Finance Ministry is planning to reduce the number of 608 revolving funds in the medical services field to 175 and the 1065 vocational school revolving funds to 81. This measure alone will bring the number of 1673 revolving funds to 256. This brings the total number of remaining revolving funds to 1233 which is already under the number of 1325 which is foreseen in Turkeys Letter of intent until the end of 2001.
